Montgomery County Faith Community Advisory Council
The Faith Community Advisory Council, a part of the Montgomery County Office of Community Partnerships, ensure that the county executive is well informed of and able to act effectively in responding to the needs and concerns of faith communities, and to work collaboratively with government, nonprofits, and community organizations in creating a just, healthy, and—in words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.—Beloved Community.
Since 1973, the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation has fostered contemplative living and leadership by caring for the spiritual heart in prayer and by offering ways of opening into the life of the Spirit through programs and other resources.
Interfaith Works provides short-term, emergency shelter; longer-term, community-based supportive housing programs; free clothing, free household goods, and free food distribution; refers families and individuals to vital services like legal assistance, healthcare, English classes and help with rent and utilities; and vocational services to help people find and maintain sustainable employment.
